  3. Research Interests
    My research interests have been focused on the assessment of radiation dose from medical
    examinations and associated risks with a special interest in embryo/fetal dosimetry, paediatric
    dosimetry, computed tomography and interventional radiology dosimetry and medical
    radiation protection. I have also made numerous contributions in the field of radiological
    diagnosis of osteoporosis (development/optimization of techniques).
    Publications (February 8, 2019) Number of publications in Scopus: 222, number of citations
    in Scopus 4045, h-index 34. Many of these publications are in leading journals such as
    Medical Physics, Physics in Medicine and Biology, Radiology, Investigative Radiology and
    European Radiology. Number of books: 8 (published and forthcoming).
  4. Recent Projects
    I have been involved in several projects as a coordinator, group leader or research member.
    My most recent projects are MEDIRAD (WP2 leader), EUCLID (project leader), EUTEMPE
    (Module 11 leader), CONCERT (project leader), pi-DRL (project leader), MEDRAPET
    (project leader).
  5. Organization of scientific meetings
    I have been involved in the organization of several international conferences, workshops and
    scientific meetings as President, Vice-President or Chair such as the VI International
    Conference on Medical Physics (Vice-chair, Patras 1999), European Congress of Medical
    Physics (President, Chair of the Congress Program Committee and Chair of the Scientific
    Committee, Athens 2016, the MEDRAPET workshop (Chair, Athens, 2012), the PiDRL
    workshop (Chair, Lisbon, 2015) and the EUCLID workshop (Co-chair, Luxembourg, 2019,
    forthcoming). Further, I have been on numerous conference scientific and organizing
    committees.
  6. Invited presentations
    I have given more than 300 invited presentations in national and international conferences
    including ECR, RSNA (Radiological Society of North America) annual meeting, AAPM
    (American Association of Physicists in Medicine) annual meeting, IRPA (International
    Radiation Protection Association) conferences, IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency)
    conferences and other scientific meetings, ICRP scientific meetings, IOMP Conferences and
    Congresses and EFOMP Congresses. I have also been invited by the IAEA to give webinars
    on ‘Diagnostic Reference Levels’ and ‘Managing X-ray exposure to pregnant patients’.
